Shocking video: Maglaj Health Center destroyed, citizens unprotected

The Maglaj Health Center was destroyed in the catastrophic floods that hit the town, as it was located on an exposed part towards the Bosna River and was among the first to be flooded, writes the Patria News Agency.

The horrific images of the destroyed Health Center are chilling, with water reaching the second floor. The entire diagnostics department was located in the basement and ground floor (for easier patient access), and the damage is total! The Bosna River also swept away three transport vehicles of the Health Center. 

The director of the Health Center, Dr. Emira Drnda – Čičeklić, stated during a tour of the devastated Health Center that the septic tank is causing them a particular problem, and they cannot even enter that area.

- Our sludge pump has broken down, and we are lower than the city sewage system. And now our biggest problem is that the city sewage is backing up into our facility. We cannot even turn on the water. So we have suspended all activities until we find and replace that pump, but the problem is that it is very difficult to find the same one – says Dr. Drnda-Čičeklić.

Among other things, she also stated that part of the documentation was destroyed.

- We left it to dry, but we don't know how much of it will be usable – adds the director of the Maglaj Health Center.

It is evident that the Maglaj Health Center will urgently need donations of equipment, as a huge area of about 50,000 people has been affected by the catastrophe, and they certainly need healthcare.
