Total lunar eclipse visible from BiH

(Patria) - A total lunar eclipse will be visible from our region tonight.

A total lunar eclipse is an astronomical event during which the Moon passes through the Earth's penumbra and umbra.

The eclipse begins with the Moon entering the Earth's penumbra at 5:28 PM SEV+1 (SEV+1 - daylight saving time valid in BiH, all times in this text are expressed in SEV+1).

The partial lunar eclipse begins at 6:27 PM (Moon enters Earth's umbra), and the total lunar eclipse will begin at 7:31 PM (Moon completely in Earth's umbra).

From our region, we will be able (weather permitting) to observe the eclipse after the Moon rises above the horizon, which will happen in the evening hours after 7:00 PM.

The greatest phase of the eclipse is at 8:12 PM and is 1.36 (the greatest phase of the eclipse, the so-called eclipse magnitude, represents the ratio of the distance of the edge of the Earth's umbra closest to the Moon from the farthest edge of the Moon to that point and the Moon's diameter).

The end of the total lunar eclipse is at 8:53 PM, while the end of the partial eclipse (Moon exits Earth's umbra) is at 9:57 PM, and the Moon exits the Earth's penumbra at 10:55 PM.

It should be noted that the eclipse will be visible from the moment the Moon rises above the horizon, when it will already be in a large phase of partial eclipse until the Moon exits the Earth's umbra.

During the period when the Moon is in the Earth's penumbra, it is difficult to notice any change in the Moon's brightness.
