(Patria) - Contracts were signed today in the hall of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council with 29 new beneficiaries of the incentive measure "Co-financing of business starter costs".
This concerns residents of this municipality who registered their own small business during 2025, and through this program, they will receive support in the first, most challenging months of operation.
The program has been proving for years as one of the most concrete local measures for encouraging self-employment and the development of small crafts, and citizen interest is growing year by year.
Support that encourages new entrepreneurs
Among the new beneficiaries is Andrea Čurea Čingić, owner of the craft "Avia Consulting", who deals with business consulting in the field of quality management system implementation.
She points out that the decision to start her own business was a logical continuation of her career so far.
- Three months ago, I founded my craft "Avia Consulting". I deal with business consulting in the field of quality management system implementation. I have about 15 years of experience and I felt that I had given my best in my work so far, and that it was time for a brave step forward.
Although I was a complete layman regarding business registration, everything went smoothly, without a single missing document, with the advisory assistance of institutions and without any connections or acquaintances. I didn't know about this project before, but I was directed to apply for the public call after registration, for which I was very grateful because everything turned out well in the end - she said.
Adelina Tabaković, a graduate nutritionist and dietitian, who opened the Adelina Tabaković Nutrition and Dietetics Center, also started her business in the field of nutrition.
- I am a graduate nutritionist and dietitian and the owner of the Adelina Tabaković Nutrition and Dietetics Center. I think I am the first in Sarajevo to deal with this segment. I started the business on August 1st and it was very challenging, but with the help of good people in the Novi Grad municipality, everything went simply.
I believe it is extremely important for the local community to recognize and support young people, because that support is a great wind in their sails, especially for those who are afraid to take such a step - she emphasized.
Eight years of continuous support
As stated by Emir Djedović, Assistant Mayor for Economy and Local Economic Development, the incentive program has been implemented for eight years, and the Municipality states that it is constantly being improved to become even more efficient.
- We have been implementing the project for eight years, trying to constantly improve it and keep what works well, with additional improvements. In 2026, we plan to expand the self-employment program to even more activities. Our focus is on craftsmen, traders, and caterers, i.e., natural persons who are officially registered to perform their activities - said Djedović.
New beginning for local businesses
By signing the contracts, 29 new entrepreneurs have received financial and institutional incentives that should facilitate their first steps in the market.
The "Co-financing of business starter costs" program thus continues to play an important role in the development of the local economy and the creation of new jobs in the municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo.
