Porsche records 91% profit drop, layoffs and restructuring ahead

(Patria) – German automotive giant and symbol of luxury on four wheels, Porsche, is facing serious challenges: in the second quarter of this year, it recorded a dramatic 91% drop in net profit, along with an announcement of layoffs and business reorganization.

According to official data, Porsche achieved only a symbolic profit compared to last year, when the company celebrated record results. However, market conditions have changed significantly – and the company now announces "workforce optimization," with a special focus on administration and development sectors.

"We must adapt to new market conditions and ensure long-term business sustainability," Porsche said.



Although the number of layoffs has not yet been officially announced, German media speculate that several hundred workers could lose their jobs, primarily at the company's headquarters in Stuttgart.

Key problems: declining demand, high costs, and slow transition
Porsche cites weakening global demand for luxury cars, rising raw material and energy prices, and a slower-than-expected transition to electric vehicles as the main causes of the business downturn.

Nevertheless, the company is not abandoning its strategic goals – it announces that it will continue investing in vehicle electrification and software innovations, but at a significantly more cautious pace and with cost rationalization.

Market reaction – shares plummeted

The release of the financial report immediately caused turmoil on the stock exchange: the value of Porsche shares fell by more than eight percent, reports Telegraf Biznis.

This crisis marks one of the most difficult periods for Porsche in the last ten years, and the coming months will be crucial in answering the question – can the luxury brand remain at the top in the era of electrification and economic uncertainty.
