Popular radio stations from the video game Grand Theft Auto can now be listened to in real cars

(Patria) - A technology and video game enthusiast from Germany has taken the fusion of virtual and real worlds a step further – he created a device that allows radio stations from the legendary video game Grand Theft Auto (GTA) to be played in a real car.

This unusual innovation uses a Raspberry Pi, a miniature computer popular among DIY enthusiasts, programmed to broadcast audio and display the logos of each GTA radio station on a small screen. The device is powered via a 12-volt car adapter, and the user can easily switch stations using a convenient rotary knob.

The Raspberry Pi computer, though small and affordable, has enough power to process and store all necessary audio and image files. The entire system is housed in a 3D-printed casing, giving it an almost professional appearance.

As in the game itself, each station has its own genre – from pop and country music to political commentary and satirical advertisements. It is precisely these parodies and humorous details that have always made the GTA world special.

Although the same experience could be achieved more simply – for example, by playing YouTube compilations of GTA radio stations via a Bluetooth connection – this handcrafted device demonstrates how much creativity and effort true technology enthusiasts can invest.

The project's creator, who presents his work on the YouTube channel Zeug und Kram (which translates to "stuff and things"), explained in detail how this device was made. Instructions are also available on the Instructables platform for anyone who wants to try building their own version.

Although perhaps not particularly practical, this project shows how much imagination and technical knowledge can be combined in an unusual but fun experiment. GTA radio, once only part of a virtual world, now plays on real roads.
