Direct flight line from Germany to Mostar re-established

(Patria) - After six years, Eurowings airline is once again connecting Mostar Airport with Germany, and the first plane on the regular line from Düsseldorf landed in Mostar today, officially marking the beginning of the summer flight season, reports Fena.
This represents a significant step forward for Mostar Airport, as well as for numerous citizens of the region living and working in Germany, and for tourists wishing to visit Herzegovina, Mostar Airport announced.

"This is, at least for this season, the icing on the cake. A lot of work has been done to get Mostar Airport back on its feet, and we have achieved excellent results in the past two years. This season, we expect record numbers in the history of Mostar Airport. The story with Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, which starts soon, with Eurowings will be the culmination of that project," said Mostar Mayor Mario Kordić.

He also revealed some news regarding Mostar Airport.

"We will work on introducing new routes, and it is important for us that the management of Mostar Airport proceeds with the expansion process, because we are gradually reaching the peak of the technical capacities that the Airport can operationally handle, and the City of Mostar will support them in this, along with partners. Mostar Airport is a driver of tourism and the city of Mostar in general," said Kordić.

The director of Mostar Airport, Marko Đuzel, is also very satisfied with this line, as well as with the number of passengers who landed in Mostar today and departed for Dusseldorf.

"A long-awaited flight, and to be honest, we didn't expect it to be so full. 150 passengers and three children are leaving Mostar today, and 144 arrived on a plane with a capacity of 150 seats, so the occupancy is over 95%, and we are very happy about that," said the head of Mostar Airport.

He added that he hopes for a third flight next year.

"This is one of the lines, along with Stuttgart, that Eurowings will fly, it is definitely very important, and Dusseldorf is important because it is a good hub for transfers to other destinations, while Stuttgart is specifically the most important for our expatriates living in Germany, so we hope that if these flights are successful, we will have a third flight next year," said Đuzel.

Flights to Düsseldorf will operate from May 3 to July 12 and from September 6 to October 25 once a week – on Saturdays, while from July 15 to August 30, traffic will be increased and flights will operate twice a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The connection with Stuttgart also brings regular flights – from May 10 to June 28 once a week – on Saturdays, and from July 1 to October 25 twice a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The return of regular flights from Germany has been welcomed as an incentive for tourism development, but also for strengthening ties between BiH and numerous emigrants from the region living and working in Germany.

Tickets are already available for booking through the official Eurowings website, and prices start from 39.99 euros per direction, according to the statement.
