See how Apple tests the durability of new iPhones

(Patria) - YouTuber Marques Brownlee recently visited Apple's laboratory to see firsthand how the company tests the durability of new iPhones, reports Index.hr.

He recorded seven video clips which he shared in a thread on his X account, so that current and future users can see how Apple determines if their phones meet certain standards before being released for sale.

The devices are first tested for IP rating, i.e., resistance to water and dust. This is done in a simulated downpour, and then using a low-pressure water jet.

The third durability test simply shoots a powerful stream of water at the device through a fire hose. Finally, the iPhone is placed in a water tank.

For drop tests, Apple uses a robot that repeatedly raises and lowers the iPhone from different heights and angles to thoroughly assess the casing's durability.

Cameras focused on the phone also allow engineers to observe the moment of impact in slow motion, which can reveal structural design issues.

Phones are also tested for shaking conditions. This doesn't just happen during earthquakes, but also while driving in a car, on a motorcycle, or on a train.

This test is very simple: the devices are placed on a shaking tray, and their resistance to vibrations of different intensities is observed.
