Podgorica: Amira Medunjanin Concert – An Evening of Magic and Sevdah

(Patria) - As part of the Podgorica Bazaar, the queen of sevdah, Amira Medunjanin, performed last night on a packed Independence Square.

It was a concert colored with the warmest emotions and the magic that only skilled and unique artists like Medunjanin can create. With her enchanting voice and unique interpretations, she touched the soul of every visitor once again.

The concert opened with the song 'Rane moje', followed by 'Žute dunje', 'Grana od bora', 'Snijeg pade na behar na voće', 'Zapjevala Sojka ptica'... The audience enjoyed a diverse repertoire – from sevdalinka songs, evergreen hits by Toma Zdravković and Silvana Armenulić, to Azra and the indispensable Šobić.

The special guest was Mustafa Šantić, one of the founders of the band Mostar Sevdah Reunion, and according to Medunjanin, they sang the song 'Blaguno dejče' for the Podgorica audience after twenty years.

With a choral performance of Kemal Monteno's iconic song 'Sarajevo ljubavi moja', the most beautiful greeting was sent from Podgorica to its sister city.

After the official part of the concert, which concluded with the song 'Ako znaš bilo što',

Amira addressed the audience in her characteristic way.

- Now come the requests and greetings from Radio Sarajevo - Medunjanin said with a smile, singing the song 'Aj čula jesam da se dragi ženi'.

The audience, as expected, requested an encore.

- You are brilliant - Medunjanin conveyed after returning to the stage, delighting the crowd with her performance of 'Oj vesela veselice', a song by the legendary Montenegrin artist Ksenija Cicvarić.

- The songs 'Lijepi li su mostarski dućani', 'Kad ja pođoh na bemtbašu', 'Još ne sviće rujna zora' followed, and Medunjanin closed the concert with the song 'Svirajte mi tiho tiše'.

Singing songs from all corners of the mountains, Amira Medunjanin and the Podgorica audience once again proved that art infused with the strongest emotions knows no boundaries, and that the magic of sevdah connects us with unbreakable bonds of love and friendship.
