(Patria) - From December 13, 2024, the Law on Smoking Ban will be applied in the Federation of BiH, meaning smoking will be banned in indoor facilities starting tomorrow.
The new Law on Control and Limited Use of Tobacco, Tobacco and Other Smoking Products, adopted in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, introduces strict measures aimed at protecting the health of the population. The law prohibits smoking in indoor public spaces, workplaces, and public transport, and stipulates a ban on the sale of tobacco products to minors, as well as their advertising, promotion, and sponsorship.
Key Provisions
One of the most important measures includes mandatory labels on tobacco product packaging warning of the harmful effects of smoking. Furthermore, the law covers electronic cigarettes and herbal smoking products, with defined conditions for special smoking areas in catering facilities and other establishments.
Penalties
Penalties are foreseen for those who violate the provisions of the law:
● Legal entities can be fined from 2,000 KM to 15,000 KM.
● Responsible persons in legal entities face fines from 500 KM to 3,000 KM.
● Natural persons who violate the law can be fined from 100 KM to 1,000 KM.
Oversight and Implementation
Oversight of the law's implementation will be carried out by competent inspection services, and legal entities and citizens are expected to adapt to the new measures. The goal is to reduce the harmful effects of smoking and align with international standards in this area.
