(Patria) - Carriers from BiH today suspended blockades of freight traffic at border crossings, said one of the coordinators of the Consortium "Logistika BiH" Marko Ivanović.
According to him, the decision was made after guarantees were received from Brussels that the 90/180-day stay rule in the European Union (EU) would not apply to professional drivers.
"We also received guarantees from the entity governments that our requests will be fulfilled," Ivanović added.
Previously, carriers from Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia also decided to end the blockade, who, together with carriers from BiH, had suspended freight transport at the borders with the EU since Monday.
According to the latest results of a survey conducted by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH among businessmen, the minimal direct financial losses of BiH companies in case of blockades lasting longer than three days are 37.9 million KM, and in case of blockades of seven or more days, 82 million KM. 94 companies responded to the survey (38 provided specific financial amounts for both observed periods, 24 provided specific financial amounts for one period, 32 responded exclusively descriptively, without stating exact financial amounts).
