(Patria) - From 2025, the basic child allowance in Germany will be replaced by the Kindergrundsicherung benefit, and all relevant child benefits will be consolidated into a single financial support.
Millions of families should be able to easily access benefits online.
The German government has agreed to introduce the Kindergrundsicherung benefit from 2025, reports Fenix magazine. Up to 5.6 million children at risk of poverty and their families will receive faster, easier and simpler benefits.
The advantage is that all previous financial benefits related to children will be consolidated into one.
In the future, there will be a guaranteed amount of child allowance independent of parental income.
An additional child allowance will be distributed depending on the child's age and parental income.
To this end, the current child allowance will continue to increase. Thus, it is possible that children will receive more than the current 250 euros per month.
The newly designed benefit will also include children whose parents receive cash benefits or social assistance.
The government wants to secure 2.4 billion euros for basic child care, i.e. Kindergrundsicherung.
This benefit has been discussed for a long time, but families should start receiving it in 2025.
The application for Kindergrundsicherung must be submitted online. If you do not wish to do so, you can also submit the application to the locally competent family fund.
In the future, there will be only one contact point for all child benefits - the Family Service of the Federal Employment Agency. This means that all children will be treated equally, regardless of their parents' employment status.
In addition, a so-called basic child security check is being developed. This automatically checks whether a family is entitled to the additional child allowance or not.
The corresponding portal still needs to be developed, but it is certain that it will be available via the website of the Federal Employment Agency.
