(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić met today at the seat of the FBiH Government in Sarajevo with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán. Along with Prime Minister Nikšić, Deputy Prime Ministers and Federal Ministers Toni Kraljević and Vojin Mijatović were present at the meeting, and alongside Prime Minister Orbán was Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Szijjarto Peter. During the meeting, the focus was particularly placed on strengthening economic cooperation, where, as emphasized, investors have mutual interest in investments, as well as on supporting the European perspective of our country.
Prime Minister Nikšić, welcoming the Hungarian Prime Minister and his associates, emphasized the strong interest of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in more significant investments.
"We are open to cooperation and want to make the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina a space where we will intensify investments in infrastructure and the energy transition, which includes investments in renewable energy sources. We are interested in projects through the cooperation of the Government of Hungary with the Council of Ministers of BiH and entity governments, and I already discussed this with your country's ambassador at the beginning of this week. We appreciate the impressive economic progress and huge investments that Hungary has achieved in the recent period," said Prime Minister Nikšić.
Prime Minister Orbán stated that there had been no connection between the two countries in the past period and that the goal of today's visit is to improve mutual relations and economic cooperation.
"Our recipe for investments is to find a visible project as an initial one for other investment activities. Somewhere it is the banking sector, somewhere energy, somewhere telecommunications, but it is always very visible, and we want such a project in BiH as well, which would be significant for everyone. That is why it is important for us that the meeting of the Mixed Committee for Economic Cooperation be held as soon as possible, to provide concrete proposals for future cooperation, and to move forward," said Orbán.
The interlocutors agreed that recommendations for concrete cooperation should be based precisely on those investment areas in which Hungary has achieved expansion. Also, interest was expressed in cooperation proceeding in both directions, and that Bosnian and Herzegovinian companies will also have opportunities to promote their work in Hungary.
The European path of BiH was also discussed, and the Hungarian Prime Minister announced the continuation of that support, as well as that during Hungary's presidency of the European Union next year, they will particularly advocate for our country's progress in European integration. Thanking for the hospitality, the Hungarian Prime Minister invited Prime Minister Nikšić to visit Hungary.
The meeting today was also attended by the Ambassador of BiH to Hungary Biljana Gutić-Bjelica, and the Ambassador of Hungary to our country Krisztian Posa.
