Export of milk and dairy products from BiH to the EU continues

(Patria) - Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac announced that BiH has been approved to continue exporting milk and dairy products to the European Union market.

''The European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) has given a positive assessment for BiH, following successfully conducted evaluations of official controls over the production and certification of milk and dairy products for human consumption intended for export to the EU'', confirmed Minister Košarac.

He emphasized that this success was achieved thanks to joint and coordinated activities of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, the Veterinary Office of BiH, the ministries of agriculture of the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, and the relevant entity inspectorates.

''We worked dedicatedly to enable the continuity of export of milk and dairy products to the demanding European market. The continuation of exports to the potent European market is an exceptional opportunity and an additional incentive for the development of agricultural capacities of the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH'', emphasized Minister Košarac.

He recalled that the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety conducted an audit in the dairy sector of the Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH and the Brčko District from June 1 to 13, 2023, the aim of which was the evaluation of official controls regarding the safety of milk and dairy products.

After that, the competent institutions at all levels of government in BiH worked in a coordinated manner to fulfill the recommendations from the action plan of the mentioned audit, which resulted in a positive assessment for the continuation of exports of milk and dairy products to the EU market.

Minister Košarac supported the activities of institutions at all levels of government in BiH in this process, and stated that the model of cooperation and coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH with the relevant entity ministries and institutions always has a positive outcome for domestic agricultural producers.

''We are fully committed to continuing to create policies and solutions that will open the European, as well as some new markets for domestic producers'', concluded Minister Košarac.
