This unusual "piece" of railway track is part of the Trans-Australian Railway and passes through the Nullarbor Plain, one of the most vast, yet harshest plains on the planet.

The track is completely straight, making it a unique engineering and geographical phenomenon.

The legendary Indian Pacific passenger train travels on it, connecting Perth on the west coast and Sydney on the east coast of Australia.

The train's name is not accidental - it symbolically represents the journey from the Indian to the Pacific Ocean.

This very connection gave it a name that has remained recognizable worldwide since its first whistle in 1970.

As the Indian Pacific travels this iconic section, passengers watch the same scenery for hours - a perfectly straight line disappearing into the horizon.
