Ministry of Defence Invites to Celebration of VRS Day and Exhibition of War Photographs!

The Public Relations Office of the BiH Ministry of Defence has sent an invitation to the media to cover the program marking May 12 – VRS Day and the 3rd Infantry (Republika Srpska) Regiment of the BiH Armed Forces on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the formation of the Army of Republika Srpska and the 9th anniversary of the existence of the 3rd Infantry Regiment, Patria reports.

On the official website of the BiH MoD, it is stated that an exhibition titled “War Photographs from the Defence-Homeland War” is planned, and that the highest representatives from political, public, and cultural life, representatives of non-governmental organizations originating from the Defence-Homeland War, military-diplomatic representatives accredited in BiH, and numerous other officials and guests are expected to attend this year's commemoration, all in accordance with the significance of the event we are marking – the website states.

The signatory of this invitation specifically noted that a “rich cultural and artistic program, appropriate to the tradition and cultural-historical heritage of the VRS and the Serbian people,” has been prepared for this occasion.

BiH Minister of Defence Zekerijah Osmić told the BiH news agency Patria that the commemoration of the anniversary of the existence of the 3rd Infantry Regiment is proceeding in accordance with tradition and believes that everything is impartial.

– You know the composition of the BiH Armed Forces. I think everything is in accordance with tradition – said Osmić and directed us to the Public Relations Office for more information.

Uma Sinanović, spokesperson for the BiH MoD, told NAP that she is not familiar with all the details of the May 12 commemoration program.

– The 3rd Regiment, or Republika Srpska Regiment, inherits the tradition of the Army of Republika Srpska. The law defines the days when all three infantry regiments are commemorated. The first, second, and third. It is about the tradition of all former war years. I only know that the program lasts for several days – Sinanović told NAP.
