(Patria) - The latest court documents show that the famous singer Michael Jackson owed more than 500 million dollars at the time of his death.
It is written in black and white that Jackson owed money to 65 people who were left "empty-handed".
According to People, in addition to being in debt, he was also planning his latest tour called "This Is It" shortly before his death, which further burdened his finances by a staggering 40 million dollars.
"Some debts incurred interest at extremely high rates," the documents state.
His legal team managed to resolve some of the debts posthumously through negotiations, by selling real estate, personal belongings, and copyrights.
This stopped the loss of the remaining assets. Otherwise, his children, like the creditors, would have been left with nothing.
The fifty-year-old Jackson died in 2009 of cardiac arrest caused by acute propofol intoxication, for which his doctor Conrad Murray was found guilty.
