Lozančić calls on officials to forgo travel to Brazil

Members of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH are discussing the BiH Council of Ministers' Information on Floods. Vjekoslav Bevanda, Chairman of the Council of Ministers, stated that the materials are detailed.

- Catastrophic floods have caused major consequences. It is impossible to speak about the scale of this catastrophe in terms of exact consequences, as experts are on the ground. However, it is clear to all of us that there is significant material damage and that the reconstruction will be a long-term process. Therefore, we need international assistance. Acting in accordance with the law, the Council of Ministers held ten sessions, and at seven of them, it adopted conclusions within its jurisdiction, as can be concluded from the materials, this was always discussed – said Bevanda, reports Patria.

Niko Lozančić (HDZ BiH) stated that we have 50,000 new refugees, and we haven't even taken care of those displaced by the war.

- Houses are built in the summer, not in December. Today, at this moment, someone should have already provided construction materials so that people could potentially cover their new houses before winter. I must say, and I hope no one minds, but I am saying this with a significant degree of anger. We hear accusations between entities about who will steal from whom. We clearly only know how to function on that basis. We heard that a hundred thousand people lost their jobs, I don't know if this is in the materials, and I hear the appeal of the Mayor of Maglaj asking for manpower for clearing – says Lozančić, adding that many operational and concrete measures are missing.

- I appeal to all officials to forgo travel to Brazil under the guise of some patriotism – said Lozančić.

Šefik Džaferović, a Member of Parliament from SDA, said that he was very skeptical during the previous discussion on this matter.

- It is honest to say today that from the last session until today, I see intensified work on this issue. The state must provide an answer to the question of consequences in the smallest details, from fatalities to concrete damages on the ground. It must provide answers on the sources of funds to repair the damages and the deadlines for doing so – said Džaferović, adding that there must be no faltering in this area.

- We also need to seriously prepare for the donor conference. It is possible to redirect one hundred million marks from global funds for these needs in one session. It is possible to reach a figure of half a billion marks. Support for the Armed Forces must be provided. This must not be a matter of politicization and must be the focus of all of us – said Džaferović, adding that they will need a special session with only this item on the agenda.

Borislav Bojić from SDS said that a special session on this issue would give it special importance.

- That should be supported. Not because it comes from SDS, but because it is a good proposal. I would like to know how many people here have read this material. I am not sufficiently prepared to discuss this material – said Bojić.

Saša Magazinović (SDP) said that the material was not delivered this morning.

- It is not true that we received the materials this morning, but rather that you came to work this morning. The materials have been available for two days – said Magazinović, reports the reporter of the BiH news agency Patria.
