(Patria) - Bosnian striker Haris Tabaković crowned a great season, and our national team player was a scorer for Borussia Monchengladbach today in their 4-0 victory against Hoffenheim. However, in the 74th minute, the Bosnian striker requested medical assistance, indicating problems with his left ankle, and unfortunately could not continue the match.
Tabaković left the game due to injury, and news is now eagerly awaited on whether the injury is serious or not, ahead of the national team's gathering on May 23rd before the World Cup. The first match is on June 12th in Canada, and before that, the Dragons have two friendly matches: on May 29th against North Macedonia in Sarajevo and on June 6th against Panama in St. Louis.
It was also a bad day for Bosnian national team player Nikola Vasilj and his St. Pauli, as they were relegated from the Bundesliga. In the final round, St. Pauli lost 3-1 at home to Wolfsburg in a direct relegation battle, and Wolfsburg secured 16th place and the play-out. Vasilj scored an own goal.
Vasilj confirmed his departure immediately after the match in a statement to Sky television.
"This was my last match for St. Pauli. It's hard for me to say. But football is like that sometimes. You have to move on. In the last few weeks, I was only focused on us staying in the league. Now, the World Cup awaits me first," said Vasilj, as reported by Bild.
Heidenheim lost 2-0 at home to Mainz, meaning Heidenheim is the second club, along with St. Pauli, to leave the Bundesliga.
Wolfsburg will therefore go into the play-out against the third-placed team from the 2. Bundesliga, and we will find out who that will be on Sunday.
Bayern are already champions and will go to the Champions League, along with Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Stuttgart, the team of our Ermedin Demirović.
Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen will go to the Europa League, and Freiburg will go to the Conference League.
However, if Freiburg wins the Europa League on Wednesday, they will go to the Champions League as winners, and eighth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt would go to the Conference League.
A potential Europa League win for Freiburg could lead to shifts in the UEFA rankings, meaning, for example, the winner of the BiH Cup, Zrinjski, could directly qualify for the Conference League play-off. It will be much clearer once all seasons conclude and UEFA makes its adjustments.
