Lions Club International Donates Medical Equipment to Maglaj Health Center

Members of Lions Club International BiH, led by Dr. Mehmed Kundurović, visited the Maglaj Health Center and presented a donation worth 75,000 KM, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Today's donation includes a modern ultrasound machine, which covers complete ultrasonic diagnostics with three probes, and equipment used in emergency medical services (defibrillator, aspirator, set of resuscitation devices, and oxygen cylinders).

Kundurović emphasized that there are four clubs in BiH composed of people of good will and big hearts who are ready to use their social standing, honor, and ethical code to donate their time and money to help those in need.

- This day is significant for us because we have managed to realize a large donation of medical equipment for the Maglaj Health Center. In the first days after the floods, we visited this healthcare facility, saw the needs, and the time has come to help - said Dr. Kundurović, adding that in the first days after the May floods, they provided assistance to the affected population and donated 603 food packages to Željezno Polje.

The motto of this organization is "We Serve," and Lions Club is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.4 million members in over 43,300 clubs, in 714 districts covering 182 countries.

Dr. Emira Drnda-Čičeklić, director of the Health Center, stated that this will raise the level of service for patients.

- Thanks to EU funds and the Flood Recovery Program implemented by UNDP, the renovation of the Maglaj healthcare facility, where damages after the May floods were estimated at around 1.8 million KM, is well underway. We have also adapted our work methods, so the laboratory is now on the second floor. Construction work, replacement of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing installations are in progress, followed by the installation of new floor coverings. I believe that the renovation of the entire building will be completed by the beginning of December - added Dr. Drnda-Čičeklić.
