Kurti: NATO is against the arrival of Serbian soldiers in Kosovo

(Patria) - Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti spoke today about the events in the north of Kosovo and stated that KFOR asked the official Pristina for more time to remove the barricades in the north of Kosovo.

He added that the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, is in constant contact with the KFOR commander, who, according to Kurti, asked for more time from the Kosovo institutions to remove the barricades.

"Sveçla is not staying in Pristina, he is constantly in Mitrovica, in constant contact with the KFOR command regarding the removal of barricades. KFOR has asked us for some more time. We are in constant communication with KFOR, such barricades will not be tolerated for long," Kurti told the Pristina media.

Yesterday, Sveçla described the events in the north of Kosovo as an "episode of high-level Serbian-Russian hybrid warfare against the Republic of Kosovo".

"The same non-state actors, used by both the Belgrade and Moscow regimes, represented by Damnjan Knežević, were taught to break through this border crossing," said the Kosovo Minister of Police. He said that in recent days, other "state and non-state actors from these two countries" have entered the territory of Kosovo, and they are still there. Sveçla described these people as the "only forces" that have "ignited wars in Europe" since World War II.

"Masked and barricaded armed men in the streets, with the support of the Russian spy center located in Niš, Serbia, are trying to undermine our sovereignty, inciting aggressive provocations to divert attention from the aggression in Ukraine, where, as it appears, Putin is losing the war. We will continue to expose the Russian-Serbian intention, insisting that we do not succumb in any way to the great deception that Serbia and Russia are trying to make part of European civilization," reported Kosovo and Serbian media.

Albin Kurti says that the events of recent days are "the beginning of the final phase of Serbia's illegal structures in the north of Kosovo".

Regarding Serbia's request to KFOR for the return of up to a thousand Serbian army and police personnel to Kosovo, Kurti said that NATO would be against it.

"There has never been a need for Serbian soldiers in the Republic of Kosovo, there has never been a need for Serbian soldiers in the 20th century, nor in the 19th century. With these requests, they show that they have remained in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Of course, NATO will be against it, and they also understand well that those poor Serbian soldiers, whom they claim to bring to our country, have nowhere to come to Kosovo. So it is more an expression of their helplessness than their power," said Kurti.
