Košarac: Prerequisites created to vote for the 'New East Interconnection' gas pipeline

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac (SNSD) believes that prerequisites have been created to vote for the construction of the gas pipeline "New East Interconnection" at the next session of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

"There is no reason why we should not vote on the 'New East Interconnection' at the first upcoming session of the Council of Ministers of BiH. All prerequisites have been created for this, and even a new Federal government has been formed. This was a request from political structures from the Federation of BiH, which we have acknowledged and respected," Košarac stated on Instagram.

He emphasized that Republika Srpska and its representatives at the state level have been maximally correct and that they rightfully expect the same approach.

"We are for fair politics and equal access, i.e., support for strategically important development projects," Košarac said.

The session of the Council of Ministers of BiH, announced for April 27, at which the construction of two gas pipelines - the South and the New East Interconnection - was supposed to be discussed, was postponed.

At that session, the Council of Ministers of BiH was supposed to consider the draft bases for conducting negotiations for the conclusion of an agreement between BiH and Croatia on the construction of the gas pipeline "South Interconnection BiH and Croatia", as well as between BiH and Serbia on the construction of the gas pipeline "New East Interconnection BiH and Serbia".

The construction of the "New East Interconnection" gas pipeline is on the route of the Serbia - BiH - Bijeljina - Banja Luka - Prijedor - Bosanski Novi border.

The construction of the "South Interconnection BiH and the Republic of Croatia" gas pipeline is on the route Zagvozd - Posušje - Novi Travnik/Travnik with a branch to Mostar.
