(Patria) - Jordan announced today that a convoy with 36 trucks of humanitarian aid has been allowed to enter the Gaza Strip, which is under Israeli blockade.
The Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation stated that the aid convoy entered northern Gaza via the Zikim border crossing.
"The aid will be delivered to World Central Kitchen, a US-based organisation operating in Gaza," the statement added.
A complete blockade from early March to mid-May prevented any food deliveries to Gaza for almost 80 consecutive days.
Although deliveries have resumed, they are still far below what is needed to sustain the population, according to the head of the World Health Organization.
Israel has killed more than 59,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023, mostly women and children.
The military campaign has devastated the enclave, collapsed the health system, and led to severe food shortages.
