Concert of sevdah queen Hanka Paldum opens Sarajevo Sevdah Soirée

(Patria) - In the beautiful ambience of Žuta tabija, the second Sarajevo Sevdah Soirée was opened with a concert by the queen of sevdah, Hanka Paldum. The sevdalinka festival from 17 to 23 August will gather many interpreters of sevdalinka.

As early as tomorrow, the audience can enjoy the interpretation of Alma Subašić.

Then on 20 August, Amira Medunjanin will perform, as well as Jusuf Brkić, and Zanin Berbić on 22 August.

To close the festival, the audience will enjoy a concert by Eldin Huseinbegović on 23 August.

The organizers of Sarajevo Sevdah Soirée have recognized the need to preserve and nurture sevdalinka as an invaluable Bosnian treasure of intangible culture. Given that the festival has received positive reactions from the audience, it could soon become a traditional gathering of sevdah lovers from all regions and our famous interpreters of folk songs.

As the organizers point out, Hanka Paldum's concert was sold out in record time. A large audience from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond enjoyed the performance of the most beautiful sevdalinkas. In addition to sevdalinka, unforgettable songs by Hanka Paldum, such as Zelene oči, Ja te pjesmom zovem, Crne kose, Kani suzo izdajice, and many others, were indispensable for the delight of the audience.

The Sarajevo Sevdah Soirée festival, which was opened with a concert by Hanka Paldum, was organized by ZUP Baščaršija, and its realization was supported by the City of Sarajevo, the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, the Federal Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the Municipality of Stari Grad, and the Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Stojanović, the organizers announced.
