Canton Sarajevo Records New Statistical Records for Tourist Arrivals and Overnights During New Year's Holidays

(Patria) - In the period from December 29, 2023, to January 2, 2024, Canton Sarajevo (KS) was visited by 13,529 tourists, which is 20.1% more than last year (when 11,264 were recorded), and 114.7% more than in 2019 (when 6,299 were recorded).

The statistics for tourist overnights in KS for the same period, meaning five nights during the New Year's holidays, show that 31,540 overnights were realized this year.

This is 43.5% more than last year (when 21,971 were recorded), and 121.2% more than in 2019 (when 14,256 overnights were recorded).

During the New Year's holidays, the largest number of tourists in KS were from Bosnia and Herzegovina and surrounding countries - Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, but also from Germany, Austria, Turkey, Switzerland, Sweden...

On average, they stayed for two to three days.

The Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, led by president Haris Fazlagić, thanked all tourists and citizens who welcomed the New Year in Sarajevo.

"We extend special thanks to the members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo who, this year again, well-implemented security measures, so that despite large gatherings both outdoors and indoors, no violations were recorded.

Once again, we have shown that the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a safe tourist destination.

We are also extremely pleased with the fact of the quick and good organization of cleaning the main streets of Sarajevo immediately after the New Year's celebration, as images of a clean and beautiful Sarajevo are our tourist imperative throughout the year," stated the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board.
