(Patria) - The "Alisa" hair salon from Velika Kladuša has been providing hairdressing services to its clients for more than two decades, and behind its success stands owner Hasan, who despite a 70% disability and amputation of his right lower leg, successfully runs a private business and continuously invests in its development.
Hasan currently works alone in the salon, with the help of his daughter who is undergoing professional practice and attending hairdressing school. She is not a person with a disability, but she is actively learning the trade and plans to continue the family tradition, which gives the salon a perspective for long-term growth.
Hasan first heard about the Fund for Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities from a friend, to whom the information was passed on by an accountant. Without high expectations, Hasan decided to explore the possibilities and apply, which turned out to be a good decision for the development of his business.
For about ten years now, he has regularly used the support that the Fund offers to employers and self-employed persons with disabilities. As he points out, that support meant a lot to him in the most important moments of his business.
The greatest assistance he received relates to the refund of contributions, which he describes as a significant financial relief. This measure allows him to more easily meet monthly obligations such as rent and accounting services, which in small businesses often represents one of the biggest burdens.
In addition, Hasan has successfully applied multiple times for the procurement of new equipment and materials, which has enabled him to modernize the salon and provide higher quality services to his clients.
- That support from the Fund really meant a lot to me. Now I can work better, invest in the salon and develop the business. Every month they refund my contributions, and I can often apply for equipment, which makes my business much easier - says Hasan.
He emphasizes that the Fund's support benefits not only the individual but also has long-term and broader social significance. Thanks to incentives, persons with disabilities can achieve financial and professional independence, which gives them security and the opportunity to plan their development.
Support enables them to start or improve their own business, to remain active participants in the labor market, and to participate equally in the economy, instead of being viewed through the lens of limitations.
This is precisely, as Hasan conveys, the greatest value of the Fund - it creates real opportunities and opens doors that would otherwise remain closed to many. Therefore, Hasan sends an important message to everyone considering starting a business.
- I would recommend to all persons with disabilities who can and want to start a business or get employed by an employer to inform themselves about the possibilities and types of support offered by the Fund. Because both employers and we - persons with disabilities - benefit. It can change someone's life - he points out.
Examples like Hasan's testify to the importance of a support system that enables persons with disabilities to be work-active, financially independent, and to develop small businesses in local communities.
The "Alisa" hair salon is just one of numerous proofs of how much strategic and long-term support from the Fund can positively impact life, work, and the entire community.
