(Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina is known worldwide for its natural beauty. Beautiful lakes, rivers, and mountains are a magnet for a large number of foreign tourists, as well as Bosnians and Herzegovinians.
Boračko Lake is one of the natural pearls of Herzegovina, whose beauty leaves no one indifferent. Surrounded by the steep and wooded heights of Crna Gora and Tranjina, this lake is a favorite excursion spot for citizens of Sarajevo, Konjic, and Mostar, as well as tourists from all continents.
High temperatures are announced to continue in the coming days, so Boračko Lake can be an excellent choice for a weekend getaway.
It is an ideal place for families and relaxation in a natural environment, and the numerous facilities available at the lake will make everyone's stay unforgettable.
There is a campsite at Boračko Lake where you can come with a camper and spend your vacation there, and many visitors spend the entire summer here.
There is also the possibility of renting wooden bungalows or apartments. Also, there are pedal boats, boats, barbecue areas, children's playgrounds, and the lake is excellent for fishing, as it contains carp, river and lake trout, river crabs…
The road from Konjic leads along a winding road, and before you descend to the lake, it is recommended to stop at the viewpoint and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake and the surrounding hills.
- Boračko Lake is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian and regional natural gem. It is a natural glacial lake in which the water completely changes every 54 days.
Snow melts from Prenj and accumulates, then flows to the part where the Eco-village "Boračko Lake" is located and enters the lake.
Groundwater and streams enter from the side, pushing water from the lake into the Šištica River, and then into the Neretva.
Experts have measured how much water enters and leaves the lake and determined that the lake level never changes. They calculated that the entire water is replaced in 54 days.
It has never happened that the lake was polluted due to human factors. The appearance of scum occurs when temperatures are high.
The scum is formed from pollen that falls from the tree called alder (joha, jova, jalša, jeovina, jauša, lat. Alnus). Pollen collects on the surface of the lake when there is no wind.
Otherwise, there is almost always a breeze here, and the surface of the lake is never still. Some individuals have claimed that sewage was released, but that is not true. It is simply a natural phenomenon and a completely normal process in nature.
It is only the beginning of the season, and guests have not yet arrived in full numbers. The climate is pleasant, warm during the day, and pleasantly cool for sleeping at night - says Elmir Miro Hadžialić, owner of the Eco-village "Boračko Lake".
