Have you heard of the Duge waterfalls: 'One of the most beautiful natural jewels in BiH'

(Patria) - How many natural beauties Bosnia and Herzegovina hides, perhaps the top photographer Boris Trogrančić, who regularly delights us with his new shots, knows best.

This time, Boris says he had the opportunity to visit a little-known but incredible location - the Duge waterfalls near the village of the same name near Prozor, writes Punkufer.

- Kind locals directed me which way to go, and partly by path, and partly through undergrowth, I managed to reach the large waterfall - the sight is fantastic.

I would certainly mention that one should be especially careful of snakes at this time of year, and I, of course, go on photographic assignments exclusively in sports equipment, long pants, long sleeves, boots above the ankle.

It is certainly not a bad idea to have water and some basic first aid in your backpack. That is my recommendation whenever you go into nature.

I captured these shots in the moments between rain showers, waiting for the right light. Enjoy - says Boris.

The Duge waterfalls are located in a lush forest that gives them a mystical atmosphere.

Due to their exceptional beauty and significance, the area around the waterfalls and the village of Duge have been protected as a natural rarity since 1958 by the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and Natural Rarities.

- The Duge waterfalls, located in the settlement of the same name in the municipality of Prozor-Rama, are for me one of the most beautiful natural jewels I have visited in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the settlement of Duge, the river Dušica, formed by the confluence of the Krupić stream and the Ljubunčka river, creates two impressive waterfalls known as the Upper and Lower waterfalls or Skakavci.

The Upper waterfall reaches a height of 10 to 15 meters, while the Lower waterfall has a height of 15 to 20 meters. In addition to them, there are also smaller cascades in the vicinity with heights between 2 and 6 meters.

These waterfalls are formed due to travertine deposits that form in the riverbed, creating spectacular natural beauty.

The waterfalls can be reached from the village of Duge, which is located along the Dušica river.

Although the waterfalls are close to the main road, it is recommended to use a GPS device or a local guide for easier navigation, as the waterfalls are located in a wooded area.

After arriving, it is necessary to go through a forest path to the waterfalls themselves - explains Boris.
