(Patria) - At least seven people, including one child, were killed and fifteen were wounded in an Israeli attack on the southern Lebanese town of Saksakiyeh on Saturday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced.
The Israeli army (IDF) announced that it attacked Hezbollah militants in the town, accusing them of planning attacks on Israeli soldiers, Reuters reported.
"The IDF is aware of reports of injuries to uninvolved civilians at the facility where terrorists were attacked. The details of the incident are being reviewed," the army said in a statement.
Israel and Hezbollah have continued to exchange fire in southern Lebanon, where Israel has established a self-proclaimed security zone, despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States on April 16.
Israel also announced that it killed the commander of Hezbollah's elite Radwan forces on Wednesday in its first attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut since the ceasefire was declared.
While Israel and Hezbollah are at war, the United States has hosted two rounds of talks between the Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors in Washington, marking the highest-level contacts between representatives of the Lebanese and Israeli governments in decades.
A US State Department official said that representatives of Israel and Lebanon will hold a third round of talks in Washington on Thursday and Friday.
