Volkswagen Announces Sales: Golf 8.5 to Hit European Roads Soon with 'Edition 50' Package

(Patria) Volkswagen has announced the start of sales for the refreshed Golf. The redesigned compact hatchback, which was recently the best-selling car in Europe, is designated as the Golf 8.5 and will soon arrive on European roads after its debut.

The manufacturer has decided to mark its market launch with a special Edition 50 version, evoking the Golf's 50th birthday, or half a century since the debut of this model's first generation.

The special version also announces a new starting price, which begins at 27,180 euros in Germany, or 28,280 euros for the Variant station wagon version.

The base model has a 1.0 TSI gasoline engine with 115 HP under the hood, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, the base model comes with 15-inch steel wheels.

Regarding the Edition 50 version, it is based on the Style package and, in addition to extensive standard equipment, features "50" and "Edition 50" badges to distinguish the special series from later variants.

Additionally, there are special 18-inch alloy wheels, an LED strip on the front grille, and tinted rear windows. Inside, the Golf receives exclusive details such as stainless steel pedals and a black roof liner.

Customers also get the most advanced Discover multimedia system with a 12.9-inch screen, which includes, among other things, Chat GPT integration.

The only optional package is the Plus package with a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, and IQ.Light matrix LED headlights.

For the Edition 50 version, the only engine option is the 1.5 TSI with 150 HP, while the price for a car equipped this way is 36,820 euros.
