Despite a reduction of 950,000 KM, the budget of the BiH Ministry of Security has been increased by 1.8 million KM

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of BiH unanimously adopted the Draft Law on the Budget of BiH Institutions and BiH's International Obligations for 2024, with corrections at the session that, among other things, relate to an increase in the budget of the BiH Ministry of Defence by 1,750,000 KM compared to the initially planned funds, and an increase in the budget of the BiH Presidency by 500,000 KM.

At the same time, the budget of the Ministry of Security of BiH was reduced by 950,000 KM compared to the initially planned funds, the Veterinary Office by 500,000 KM, and the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Pre-trial Detention and Other Measures by 800,000 KM. Regardless of today's reduction, the budget of the Ministry of Security has still increased by 1,815,000 KM.

The Ministry of Finance and Treasury will immediately submit the Draft Budget to the BiH Presidency, which is authorized to propose it to the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, which ultimately adopts this law, with a proposal for urgent procedure consideration.

Total revenues, receipts, and financing of BiH institutions within the budget for 2024 amount to 1,355,400,000 KM, which is an increase of 40 million KM compared to the budget of BiH institutions for 2023. Revenues from indirect taxes are planned at 1,020,500,000 KM and are at the same level as the previous year, when they increased by about 155 million KM compared to the budget for 2022. Among other sources of financing are non-tax revenues of BiH institutions in the amount of 248,049,000 KM, which is an increase of about 95.9 million KM compared to the previous year.

Total expenditures of BiH institutions amount to 1,355,400,000 KM and are 3% higher than in the previous year, while the servicing of BiH's external debt amounts to 1,430,733,053 KM. Thus, total expenditures of BiH institutions and servicing of BiH's external debt in the budget for 2024 amount to 2,786,133,053 KM, which is an increase of 224,766,691 KM or 9% compared to 2023.

The Draft Budget primarily supports the continuation of reforms and the fulfillment of conditions for European Partnership and the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA).

Funds planned for the BiH Ministry of Defence will enable the unhindered operation of this ministry and its participation with other ministries and institutions of the Council of Ministers of BiH in programs and activities arising from the Partnership for Peace (PfP) program and other forms of cooperation with NATO. At the same time, among the priorities are the planned budgetary funds for the implementation of multi-year projects of budget users.
