
(Patria) - Hutovo Blato is a nature park covering 7,824 hectares of marshy, flat and hilly terrain in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It belongs to the municipalities of Čapljina and Stolac.
It is a natural oasis with ideal conditions for the life of more than 200 species of waterbirds and a significant number of migratory birds that reside there occasionally or permanently.

Hutovo Blato is considered one of the largest bird wintering grounds in Europe, reports Punkufer.hr.
The park's largest lakes - Deransko, Jelim, Drijen, Orah, Škrka and Svitava - are home to 44 species of fish and eels.

Hutovo Blato also records more than 600 plant species - water surfaces are dominated by water lily, yellow water lily and pondweed, while forests are home to ash, oak, willow and elm.
