(Patria) - The surroundings of Livno are one of the rare areas on the European continent where hundreds of horses live freely and gallop across vast pastures.
Under the clear skies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the Krug-planina plateau, below Mount Cincar, renowned photographer Boris Trogrančić captured a miraculous series of photos and videos of wild horses in their natural environment.
- The captured material was created after long observation and with a lot of patience, moments of silence in which nature shows its purest face - says Trogrančić, writes Punkufer.
He states that these are scenes that exude freedom and strength, and adds that he believes they will inspire many to explore these wonderful corners of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He also explained that these horses are not "true" wild horses in the scientific sense, but descendants of domestic horses that residents of Livno villages released into nature decades ago when tractors and machinery replaced their work.
Over time, the horses adapted to harsh winters, winds, and isolated mountain life, creating strong, free communities that now number several hundred individuals.
The Krug plateau with its sharp ridges, rocky terrain, and vast meadows represents an ideal habitat for these unique animals, and the sight of galloping horses at dawn or sunset is truly a visual enchantment.
