SARAJevo, (Patria) - European Union ambassadors have approved visa liberalization for Kosovo, agencies report.
EU ambassadors adopted a compromise text on visa liberalization for Kosovo ahead of its final adoption by the Council of the EU, the Czech EU Presidency announced on its Twitter profile, adding that Kosovo has taken another step on its European path.
At the beginning of 2023, visa liberalization for Kosovo needs to be confirmed by the Council of the EU and the European Parliament.
Visa liberalization will allow Kosovo citizens to travel and stay up to 90 days in the EU without a visa within any 180-day period.
The visa-free travel regime would start applying from the date the EU's European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) becomes operational, and in any case no later than January 1, 2024.
