'Dubicotton' shuts down machines tomorrow, more than 200 workers lose jobs

(Patria) - The management of the "Dubicotton" factory in Bosanska Dubica has informed employees that all production facilities will cease operations tomorrow at 10:00 PM until further notice, due to a lack of work.

Workers were told that further production would only increase losses and worsen the company's financial situation, as the textile market situation is difficult and unpredictable.

Due to all of the above, the owners and management have decided to send more than 200 employees on paid leave starting March 1.

"All employees in the spinning mill, except for a minimal number of workers needed to maintain the factory, will be placed on paid leave/waiting status, i.e., 50 percent of the monthly compensation calculation, in accordance with the applicable Labor Law of the Republika Srpska," the notice reads.

This company, which processes cotton, has been in crisis for some time. Orders are decreasing, and cooperation with local partners and suppliers has been terminated.

"Dubicotton" began operations in Bosanska Dubica in 2008, and the factory is owned by the Italian company "Franzoni Re".

In 2024, they had revenues of 19.7 million marks, but also a loss of more than 900,000 KM, while official data for 2025 is not yet available.

However, given the decision to halt production, it is clear that the financial indicators are not positive.
