Prices of 65 products to be locked for three months: Retailers choose product brands themselves

(Patria) - In the fifth wave of the locked prices project, a list of 65 food and hygiene products has been agreed upon for which the price has been reduced and locked. Prices will be lower than current ones by 17 to 23%. This will allow customers to save around 60 KM.

The prices on the published list of products represent the maximum amount that the prices of these products can reach.

This is the result of an agreement between the Federal Minister of Trade, Amir Hasičević, and retailers, manufacturers, consumer associations, and representatives of trade unions, reached at the end of January 2025.

Three meetings were held to promote dialogue among all actors in the retail chain in order to alleviate the pressure on consumers' pockets, due to January price increases, and to ensure price stability of basic foodstuffs and hygiene products.

Numerous retail chains and other legal and natural persons with smaller format stores are voluntarily participating in this project.

Retailers choose the brands of specific products themselves, so they will have clearly marked lists in their sales outlets indicating which items of which brands are reduced and locked. The lists will also be published on the website of the Federal Ministry of Trade.

The project will last for three months, with the possibility of extension.

"We remind you that this project, like the previous ones, is not designed to ensure low prices for luxury products, but to enable socially vulnerable categories to obtain basic foodstuffs at affordable prices.

Items whose prices are rising daily on the world market, such as coffee, have been excluded from this wave of the project.

Prices that are locked cannot be higher during the promotion period," the Federal Ministry of Trade announced.
