Čavalić: No talk of a minimum wage of 1,000 KM this year

(Patria) - After the FBiH Government announced that it adopted the Draft Budget for 2024 at today's session in Sarajevo, federal parliamentarian Admir Čavalić (SBiH) posted on social media.

Čavalić reminded that the FBiH Government had previously stated that it would submit a draft, but this did not happen - the budget is coming under an urgent procedure - "take it or leave it".

Thus, Čavalić points out, the bad tradition of submitting the budget continues, which directly violates the budgetary principle of transparency (so that citizens, businessmen, taxpayers can have the opportunity to participate in the budget debate).

What is evident in the Draft Budget for 2024, he adds, is that the FBiH Government directly ("budgetary") admits that there will be no fiscal reforms this year.

"As can be seen from the attachment, an increase in contributions for pension and disability insurance is expected (106% indexed).

Contributions for pension and disability insurance are planned in the amount of 2,991.9 million KM, which is 167.8 million KM more than the amount in the Budget for 2023.

Therefore, the FBiH Government does not expect a reduction in the aggregate contribution rate for this year (funds for PIO would be secured through alternative financing sources due to the pressure of fiscal reforms).

This means that fiscal laws will not be adopted, or more specifically, it means that there will be no talk of a 1,000 KM minimum wage during 2024", concludes Čavalić.
