British Mirror names Sarajevo a top winter destination

(Patria) - British magazine Mirror has included the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina among destinations suitable for short winter trips.

Sarajevo is at the top of the list. Although not a typical destination for a quick getaway, Mirror writes that the capital of BiH is well worth exploring, reports Faktor.

"Sarajevo is cheaper than more popular Balkan destinations like Croatia and Slovenia," writes freelance journalist and traveler Gavin Byron Harris.

He notes that travel to Sarajevo is affordable.

"Ryanair offers direct and affordable flights to Sarajevo from London Stansted Airport, and getting around the city is very cheap.

Taxis are almost half the price compared to the UK, and the tram that connects the entire city costs less than two pounds, regardless of the number of stops you travel," Harris states.

When it comes to local specialties, Harris points out that the offer is diverse and affordable, with many restaurants both in Baščaršija and in the rest of the city.

The next destination on the list is Prague, which is ideal for short weekend trips.

For lovers of warmer destinations, Mirror recommends Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.

Iceland is highlighted as the best location for watching the Northern Lights. A visit to the quieter town of Akureyri in the north of the island is also advised.

Neath Port Talbot, known for its beautiful landscapes and sea views, also made the list.
