
(Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina continued to export huge quantities of coal in the first quarter of this year.
Official data shows that exports have doubled compared to the same period last year.
According to data from the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of BiH, the total value of exported coal in the first three months of 2025 amounted to 39.2 million KM, with 234,301 tons of this energy source exported.
On the other hand, in the same period last year, the export value was 15.8 million KM, and a total of 117,418 tons of coal were exported, writes Capital.
As in previous years, the export of lignite coal dominates, which was exported in the first quarter of this year worth 36.7 million KM, and almost all of this export ended up in Serbia.
UIO BiH data shows that coal exports exploded in 2022, when as much as 984,943 tons of coal were exported, for which 154.2 million marks were collected, and the year before only 195,000 tons for 26.5 million KM.
At the same time, coal imports have also increased this year compared to the first quarter of last year.
Thus, in the first three months of this year, the import value amounted to 74 million KM, and in the same period last year, it was 54 million marks.
