Former Twitter CEO: In 5-10 years, we won't know what's real and what's AI-generated

It is difficult to predict whether and when we will reach a point where artificial intelligence is available worldwide. But it seems that everything is heading in that direction, at least in terms of development.

But will the development of generative artificial intelligence be a good or bad thing?

If one of the co-founders and former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is to be believed, in just a few years, AI-generated content will prevail in the world, reports Zimo.hr.

The problem is that among this content will be a large number of "deepfake videos", fake content that is already flooding the internet in large numbers.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish what is actually a forgery generated by artificial intelligence and what is a real photo, video, or text.

"Don't believe it - check it. You have to experience it yourself. And you have to learn yourself. We are entering an era, and it will be in the next five or 10 years, in which, due to the way images and videos are created, you will, literally, not know what is real and what is fake," Dorsey warned.

What once required great knowledge and a lot of work in expensive programs can now be done in just a few minutes by typing instructions into an AI-powered tool.

It is enough to mention OpenAI's ChatGPT, Microsoft's Image Creator, or the more sophisticated tool Sora, which can generate artificially created videos in just a few minutes.

And it will be very difficult for the average viewer to assess whether it is actually a recording or if everything is computer-generated.

The problem of "deepfake content" has existed for years, and very little has been done to properly label it and prevent its uncontrolled spread.

Proposals such as watermarks have been limited to a voluntary basis or specific programs or technologies.

"It will be almost impossible to tell what is real and what is not. It will feel like you are in a simulation. Because everything will look artificially produced, everything.

It is very important that you change your way of thinking or try to change your way of thinking to check things that you feel are suspicious and rely on your experience and your intuition," Dorsey added.

He also touched on the issue of automating tasks that are traditionally performed by the human brain, and which are now increasingly being taken over by artificial intelligence.

He stated that most of the functions currently available on smart devices actually prevent users from "building those connections in the human brain more".

In translation, Dorsey is convinced that the more we use artificial intelligence, the more we will forget how to perform basic tasks.
