(Patria) - Organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) Office for BiH, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Institute for Health and Food Safety of Zenica (INZ), the workshop "Health and Food Safety Day" was held in Kakanj, focusing on food safety issues, healthy lifestyles, and sustainable development of food systems.
Among numerous experts and speakers, Professor Amela Semić, Vice President of AS Holding Group for Business Quality and Sustainable Development, held a prominent position, emphasizing the responsibility of the food industry in developing sustainable food systems through her address.
- At AS Holding, we continuously work on improving the quality of our products and processes, relying on domestic resources and knowledge. Sustainability and food safety are not just trends for us, but part of the strategy that defines our daily work.
With the concept of sustainable business and adaptation to all market changes and demands, we strive to achieve a balance between quality and the economic, social, and environmental demands of the market, thereby creating a better perspective for future generations - stated Semić.
She added that consumers are increasingly aware of the importance of the food they consume, and AS Holding recognizes this need through continuous investment in quality control, development of domestic brands, and cooperation with local producers.
The workshop included a series of expert lectures and a panel discussion with representatives from international organizations, public health, inspection bodies, and industry, with a particular focus on the connection between food safety and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Participants agreed that food safety begins at the local level – in communities, on domestic farms, and in responsible companies that market their products.
This is precisely where AS Holding stands out as a positive example of domestic industry that meets the highest quality standards and exports products to five continents.
- Domestic brands, such as those from the AS Holding Group, can and must be leaders in promoting healthy eating habits and responsible production.
Our advantage lies in quality raw materials, technologies, innovations, knowledge, and people who understand the importance of every step in the food chain - Professor Semić conveyed.
The event once again confirmed that cooperation between institutions, producers, and the local community is key to building a safer and healthier food system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
