(Patria) - Many people rely on smartphones for a multitude of tasks. For these devices to function properly, it is necessary to regularly maintain them and update their software.
Accordingly, the US National Security Agency (NSA) recommends completely turning off your mobile phone at least once a week.
The main reason for the NSA's recommendation to turn off your phone weekly is protection against security threats.
Smartphones are often targets of hacker attacks, including sophisticated methods like zero-click exploits, where the user does not need to actively do anything, such as clicking on a malicious link, reports PCWorld.
Attacks can be triggered even through missed calls or invisible communications that the user may not even notice.
Completely turning off the device terminates all active sessions and communications, including those that might be compromised.
This shutdown helps reset security settings and protects the device from potential threats that may have infiltrated the system.
Besides increasing security, weekly phone shutdowns can also improve its performance.
When a smartphone is constantly in use, a large amount of temporary files and cache data can accumulate, which can slow down its operation and cause technical difficulties.
By regularly turning off the phone, we allow the operating system to "reset" and free itself of everything that unnecessarily hinders its work, thus achieving faster and more efficient device operation.
