(Patria) - Rimini is a popular Italian tourist destination in the warmer part of the year.

This city on the Italian side of the Adriatic coast in the Emilia-Romagna region, with about 150,000 inhabitants, is visited by up to two million tourists in the summer, writes Punkufer.

This is not surprising considering that Rimini boasts 15 kilometers of wide sandy beaches filled with facilities for various tastes - from those intended for children and peaceful family holidays - to lively entertainment with cocktails in beach bars and DJ performances.

Rimini is also a city of interesting history, founded in 268 BC.

The old town hides several architectural gems and charming buildings - including the Arch of Augustus, the Tiberius Bridge, and interesting medieval churches.

Fans of the seventh art must not miss a visit to the Fellini Museum, dedicated to the Italian director, of course, Federico Fellini, who was born in Rimini.

When to come, you ask? If you don't like crowds or fighting for a free sun lounger on the beach, avoid visiting in July and August. Instead, explore it off-season - at the end of May or in September.
