Operation Square: Searches at 40 locations, large sum of money blocked and seized

(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency today, as part of the operational action "Square", in the area of Sarajevo, East New Sarajevo, Pale and East Old Town continue to conduct searches of business and residential premises and movable property, as well as temporary seizure of documentation at more than 40 locations.

The mentioned activities are being undertaken due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that in the area of Sarajevo Canton and wider, from 2009 to the present day, a certain organized group of people, in order to gain unlawful property benefits, undertook illegal actions by abusing their position and forging documents in a way that they falsified ownership of land, traded a number of real estate properties which could not be traded in the area of Sarajevo Canton in accordance with valid legal regulations, thereby gaining significant unlawful property benefits.

The mentioned actions were carried out by the group members with the help and involvement of several lawyers and notaries, based on which entries were made regarding the ownership of other persons who are not the actual owners, and these were resold to third parties.

A large sum of money has been blocked and temporarily seized so far.
